Every property has within its structure mould spores which are dormant. However given the right conditions these spores germinate resulting in extensive growths of black disfiguring mould.

Mould is now classed as a statutory nuisance, and so to rent a property with a mould contamination could cause a few problems for you as the landlord, equally if you try to sell the property it may stop the sale due to the unsightly looking stains on the walls etc. and the fact that most people will think that there is a problem with the property due to the contamination.

Mould is everywhere, and is a factor which is increased by modern living, double glazing, showers, central heating etc all help to cause condensation creating the ideal conditions for mould to thrive.

Mould starts life as a spore which is comparable with a seed from the vegetable kingdom, spores are minute, and the more humid the air the greater the concentration of spores.

Air currents allow mould spores to travel long distances, where they will find a humid location in which to root themselves and start to germinate. A mould infestation is comparable to an iceberg, whereby only a third of the problem is visible the remaining two thirds consists of a complex root system deep in the building substrate.

The health concerns to people from untreated mould are very real, statistics show that 1 in 4 asthma suffers in the UK are linked to areas infested with mould, and it is thought that their illness is caused from the direct link to mould inhalation, ignoring the problem is unwise.

We ask you to do this in the first instance because quotes are free, and our prices are competitively worked out, therefore we do not like to waste our time unless it is favourable for us to have a good chance to carry out the work, also note that surveys are chargeable.

The idea of a free quotation is that we measure the areas where the work is to be carried out and only briefly look at the areas in order to find the causes of the problems, so that you can have it remedied before our arrival.

Most Landlords etc will not pay for the work to be carried out; therefore you may find that if you as the tenant require the work to be carried out you will have to bear the costs involved.
